There are numerous photos and videos posted by others, as well as the official product photos and videos, so I’ll be focusing on the details and points that seem less obvious. I also will not be glazing (no pun intended) the product just because I was able to review it early. I have no ties to the adult industry, Brian, or the AB company. Moving on…
Let’s get this out of the way, because it was my first question and probably was for a lot of others as well: The VacuPump is not a ‘VacuGlide 2 Mini’. Do not expect a ‘VG2 Lite’ from this device. Given what it can do and how it does it, I wasn’t sure what to expect exactly - a pneumatic system with internet connectivity, smart features, and compatible with most, if not all, of the VG2 accessory ecosystem using the same receivers and consequently all of the receiver mods and options? One could be forgiven for incorrectly assuming this might be a similar use case product. In my opinion, the fact that it serves a different purpose while being so deeply tied into the preexisting ecosystem is a massive selling point in the most good faith way. To throw out a clumsy analogy: This would be like if you owned a Toyota Highlander (VG2) and then bought a Prius (VP) and everything but the drivetrain were magically interchangeable.
Build quality and thought: The chassis appears to be the exact same high quality aluminum build you might know from the VG2. It feels tank-like, is pleasant to the touch, looks clean, and gives a reassuring weight to the device. My first thought was “oh shit, this looks and feels like a throwback iPod” in a very good way (the scroll wheel obviously assisted in that impression). One thing that stood out to me, though it might seems like a minor detail, is the very sturdy flip-out kickstand on the bottom. I didn’t even notice it was there for the first little while, but it made a notable difference in ease of interaction with the device once I found it. The screen is not touch, but the scroll wheel is responsive and intuitive. My one knock on the wheel is that I found the center button to be a little finicky on where/how you press it. It’s quite a large button, but if you press too close to the edge it can give an affirmative click, or no click (while fully depressed), without actually registering. It doesn’t happen often, but it did happen enough for me to remember it happening and I tested it again while typing this. But again, the button it huge, so just stay away from the outer edges. The LCD screen itself is bright, saturated, and crisp. It’s not a high resolution OLED panel, but of course it’s not. For what it is and what it’s meant to do, it’s as much as you could reasonably ask for. If I could mention any criticisms of the display, the vertical viewing angles are great, but the horizontal viewing angles are notably sub-par. That criticism is coming from someone typing this overview on a 4k 165 hz mini-LED monitor, so take my knock with a pound of salt. I love that the material covering the display extends far beyond the screen for a slick and bezel-less effect. I can’t tell if said material is glass or plastic, meaning it’s either glass or a very high quality plastic.
Function: This is a penis pump. The most advanced, overkill, almost irresponsibly premium penis pump there is. If you want your penis pumped like it’s 2046, that’s this. I’m being hyperbolic, but only a little. It’s got more than enough power and tech to do basically whatever you want it to do while still having a deep bag of tricks. The online connectivity is seamless and basically foolproof to set up. I was almost a little salty because setting up the AIU and VG2 are rocket science by comparison (hyperbole) and I wish the initial setup for those was as simple as it is for the VP. The online features are basically the same as they are for the VG2, sans a couple things it simply cannot do, with the addition of functions tailored to the VP specifically. This is where the VG2 and VP begin to notably diverge in terms of function/capability/intent. If your favorite thing about the AIU and/or VG2 is syncing them to the AB porn library or third party funscripts, this will not/cannot do that. This doesn’t have the horsepower, support, or mechanics for that task. It can move kinda fast, but nowhere near as fast or strong as the other two, and much louder when you crank up the speed. However, the VP does have its own growing library of videos it can sync to that are slower videos of penis pumping. Where the VP shines is in the precision of control and low-end torque. It grips hard, slow, and precise. The learning curve for the different modes and settings is much less steep than I expected. It’s all pretty intuitive. Watching the instructional video beforehand did prime me a bit, but I feel like it would have been easy enough to figure out intuitively. I tried the included receiver setup as well as my modded VG2 receiver. The VP receiver setup worked great for its primary purpose and while my custom VG2 setup technically worked, it was evident that it’s not optimal for pumping the way the stock VP receiver setup is.
General impressions: Another premium device from AB that succeeds in outdoing any competition and stays forward-thinking. Know what it’s for and what it isn’t. Consider what it can do and what it cannot. If you want the Rolls-Royce of dick-fluffing devices, with a handful of features you wouldn’t expect but will appreciate, this is it.
Misc.: The seemingly high-quality bag that comes with the system is an absolute perfect fit for the whole kit, just like the one that comes with the VG2. The VP uses the same power cord as the VG2. The warranty is listed as a 1-year, I would really like it to be a 2-year warranty, like the VG2. The sliding power switch just feels good to use. There is a very pleasant vibrating sensation when using stroking mode.
